Llys-y-Fran Country Park

Stay with us for a holiday or short break, and you're just a fifteen minute stroll down to Llys-y-fran country park, lake and outdoor activities centre.

The Llys-y-fran country park is a 350 acre site which includes woodland walks, cycle paths, fishing, boat hire on the lake and all manner of activities near to the visitor centre, including a playground.

Walk the quiet country road straight to the visitor centre, or if you prefer, we can point you in the direction of a beautiful route on footpaths, through woodland and fields, straight down to the quieter end of the lake. Both options are straight from our doorstep.

It's free to enter Llys-y-fran country park and free to walk around or use the cycle paths. Some of their extra activities, like fishing or axe-throwing, are paid for.

Walking

Stroll amongst the sessile oaks, willows and a nice variety of other native deciduous trees and plants and keep your eyes open for otters, stoats, polecats, a wide variety of birds or, if you're down there in the evenings, bats and badgers.

It's 7 miles right round the lake, which is a lovely walk on easy, flat terrain. That said, there is a range of walks on offer in the park, with routes and distances to suit all ages and abilities. Have a look at some of their suggested routes here.

Boating and watersports

You can get out on the peace of the water by hiring a kayak, a canoe, a stand-up paddle board or a stand-up pedal board (a paddle board with pedals). All are available from around an hour up to a full day. Llysyfran is a quiet country park, so there are no speed boats or jetskis.

Cycling and Mountain biking

We are spoilt for choice for cycling around us. The Preselis are up the road, the roads all around are lovely for a pedal and then just a few minutes cycle down the road is the Llys-y-fran country park, with routes and areas designed specially to welcome cyclists.

They are proud of their cycling offer and have 9 miles of routes, a bike repair shop and bike hire if you don't want to bring your own bike.

Pump track and Mountain Bike skills area

We can't say we've tried it, but if you want to get the adrenaline going, Llys-y-fran country park offer a wild-looking earth pump track along with a much calmer looking smooth tarmac pump track for beginners.

Suitable for all ages, and with all manner of jumps, bridges, and rock features, it certainly looks fun, and it's free if you take your own bike. Have a look here.

Fishing

You can fish from the bank or hire a boat and get out on the water. Fly fishing and course fishing are available with rainbow trout and native brown trout both on offer. Day permits are available, as are permits for longer. Find out more about it all, including prices, here.

If fishing is your thing then there are also miles of wonderful, wild and beautiful fishing spots along the coast. There are great spots easily accessible North, South and West of us, with a huge variety of sea fish out and about. In most cases, no licenses or permits are required.

Activities and events
