Pitchup

A warm welcome to our Patch of the Planet

On the Southern foothills of the Preseli Hills, you’ll find our five acre, organic smallholding, with its beautiful, quiet little family-friendly campsite.

We enjoy stunning views over Pembrokeshire, wonderful stars at night, a beautiful rural setting and an array of wildlife, including badgers, bats, a willow copse, and regular close visits from Red Kites.

With coast, hills, countryside and destinations all around us, we're brilliantly located for a varied holiday of hills, beaches, days out and coasts. It’s also just up the road from the Llys-y-Fran country park and activity centre.

We love that people want to stay here for their holidays and we do what we can to make the experience special.

About the site

We sell eggs and fresh salad when available, as well as logs for open fires at each pitch. If you’re feeling sociable, join others in the large, communal fire pit, based in a willow circle.

Hot showers, generous pitches and room to roam come as standard. But we’re a little different to most campsites.

You’ll be based on our working, nature-based smallholding where we also run a fruit tree nursery and grow fruit and veg. There’s an orchard, a willow coppice, chickens and lots of focus on building space for nature to run wild, as well as people.

You’ll often see us busying ourselves out and about around the site and we’re always happy to chat.

Look and listen and you might discover badgers, buzzards, owls, hedgehogs, dragonflies, foxes, red kites, bats and much more.

Nights are dark and stars are stunning.

The camping area is nestled near to our willow copse full of birdsong, and you'll also be nearby meadows, an orchard and hedges all around the site.

Walking

We're nestled on the foothills of the majestic, ancient Preseli hills, which have a long and rich neolithic history and are home of the Blue Stone that makes up parts of Stonehenge. There are footpaths all across it with beautiful walks and views. That includes footpaths right by us and lovely walks in all directions from our doorstep. And we're just up the road from Llys-Y-Fran country park and outdoor activity centre.

You can see the wealth of walking around us here, on Pembrokeshire County Council's fantastic interactive public rights of way map for the county.

Cycling

We are a cyclist's heaven, with the Preseli hills and nearby woodlands providing all manner of cycling routes. The Llys-y-fran country park has a dedicated cycling route as well as red routes and pump tracks for the wilder bikers.

The area

There is so much to do and see around us so to make things easier, we're always happy to give advice and tips on what to do and where to go.

Beaches and coasts

The famous Pembrokeshire coast is to the North, South and West of where we are.

We're just half an hour from some of Pembrokeshire’s stunning coastal areas, such as the beaches of Broadhaven, Newgale, Poppit Sands, Pwllgwaelod and Newport Sands or the incredible scenery of Dinas Island and the Pembrokeshire coast path.

Places to visit and local amenities

We're not far from iconic neolithic sites, ancient woodlands, temperate rainforest, stately homes, country parks, eco projects and much more. Take a look at the map at the bottom of this page for a taste of things to do within half an hour or so's drive of Patch of the Planet.

Just 3 miles up the road is Maenclochog, a bustly village with a lovely Welsh pub called The Globe, a well-stocked village shop and post office, two petrol stations, a cafe and a launderette. There are pubs and restaurants all around us, including Tafarn Sinc community-owned pub 3 miles in a different direction, in Rosebush.

The nearest train station, Clarbeston Road, is about 5 miles away whilst the main Pembrokeshire town of Haverfordwest is 10 miles, or fifteen minutes' drive away and offers a library, a cinema, leisure centre with pool, a castle, a lovely river front and larger shops.

For more independent shops, the pretty little town of Narberth is 13 miles away - less than half an hours' drive - with its art and antique shops , delicatessen, cafes, pubs, Queens Hall live music venue and swimming pool.
