Ty Canol nature reserve - west Wales'  largest ancient woodland

Ty Canol is a stunning ancient woodland that silently screams the wisdom, serenity and timelessness that only old woodlands can.

Ty Canol is famous for its lichen, of which there are over 400 species, some of which are very rare. It also boasts huge old oak trees and its sprawling, soft but rocky landscape.

It's large enough for a good walk and at one end of the woodland sits Pentre Ifan burial chamber - one of Wales' most famous neolithic structures. No doubt back then the woodland looked similar to how it does today.

Ty Canol is just 20 minutes' drive from Patch of the Planet.
